What Water & Wastewater Teams Need to Know
A remote water monitoring system provides critical information from water assets to a maintenance technician in a different location. For example, a maintenance technician could be working from his office but monitoring on his computer numerous water systems spread around the city.
You could monitor the discharge quality of your wastewater system, to make sure that you meet City standards. This is usually achieved by measuring, T.D.S (total dissolved solids), P.H and turbidity (how clear is the water), with appropriate sensors. Or you may want to monitor maintenance parameters of your system.
For example, do the filters need replacing, do the UV lamps need replacing? Do the running hours of the pump point to performing maintenance?
All critical lift station parameters are monitored in real time. If any critical parameters go out of safe limits, the monitoring system will alarm key individuals for action. It will also keep an eye on when maintenance is due.
For example, it will monitor the integrity of the seals in the underwater pumps. If they start to leak maintenance can be scheduled. Furthermore, it will present data for further analysis in Dashboards and reports.
The most important things to monitor are serious faults that require immediate attention. For example, a pump may be damaged, or a motor drive may have failed. Inlet water pressure is important as most cities regulate the minimum pressure that the pumps can be run at. If the water pressure is to low, this is a problem for the city and not the lift station.
Typically, our device can work with legacy equipment. We can use digital inputs to monitor key parameters like alarms and float switches. In some more complicated systems, we can usually connect via Modbus to drag out parameters from the existing controller itself.
